Wiping Journey Data from the Dongle

Modified on Fri, 10 May at 11:50 AM

We recommend dongles should be wiped before returning the device to your company administrator. If you are a company administrator you will need a driver account to complete the wipe, ensuring this falls in line with your own privacy policies.

You will need the MileageCount GPS Dongle Software installed on your device to begin - this can be downloaded from the driver portal once logged in.

Plug the dongle you want to wipe into your USB port and follow the steps as if you are uploading journeys to the portal. At the end of the uploading steps you will see the option to 'Erase Logger' - this step will wipe the journey data from your dongle.

NB. If you are a driver, please ensure your journeys are uploaded to the Driver Journeys screen in the portal before performing the wipe.

If you are a company administrator please ensure you go into your Driver Journeys screen and remove the journeys - you can do this on mass by using the 'Filter and Sort Journeys' button.

The dongle will only hold around 6000 miles worth of journeys, after this point the dongle will stop storing the journey data. We recommend at the end of each upload, after checking journeys are showing in the portal, that the dongle is wiped at the same time. Especially on your final upload if the device is to be returned to your company.
